knitting and making things

Have you seen KnitLit (too)? I've got an essay in there!

I've been knitting since I was a kid, and have been making other things for years, too. It's actually the way I got my nerve up to start writing seriously—what was I doing, knitting, making jewelry, binding little books, even torturing myself with some sewing. Finally I thought, go ahead, write. And I did. A book, and some other things. Anyway.

Because I like to make things, knitted and otherwise, I thought I would toss in a picture or two, including one of a group of things, including a trio of mittens (for the three-handed among us). And because I always play around with patterns, here's my first beth-version pattern along with the original 1940s ascot pattern, I'll add more patterns as I get enough patience to write down and test the ones I keep fooling with.
